Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.

Established on 18th February, 1972 at Jodhpur under the jurisdiction of the states of Rajasthan and Gujarat, the Arid Zone Regional Centre encompasses three main bio-geographic regions viz. the Thar desert, Rann, and coastal areas and semi-arid zone which separates Thar in the north and the coast in the south. The centre houses a museum, herbarium and a library for research purposes.

The museum also displays around 220 exhibits on plants and their products, famine foods, medicine, oil, dyes, gum, resins, household articles, agriculture implements, and fossil woods collected from the Jodhpur region.
