Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.

The Marble Palace is a private residence, inhabited by the descendants of Raja Rajendra Mullick Bahadur, who was the wealthiest merchant of his time. Built in 1835, the building contains large collections of western sculptures, paintings, and other antiques such as chandeliers, antique furniture, clocks, urns etc. There is also a zoo beside the palace, which has some exquisite species of birds, deers, and other small animals. Built entirely in marble, the building itself is worth a visit for its remarkable architecture.
