Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.

Built in 1887, the Baroda Museum and Picture Gallery houses objects from a variety of cultures. The collections cover Europe, Central and Southeast Asia, along with galleries dedicated to the history of the erstwhile Baroda State. The picture gallery and picture restoration room, which is housed in a separate building, exhibits European paintings from the 15th to the 18th century A.D., and bronze statues. There are also galleries dedicated to the disciplines of zoology, paleontology, ethnology, mineralogy, petrology, and geology, and artefacts from the prehistoric and proto-historic era. Some of the remarkable artworks from this museum are paintings by British masters J. W.M Turner, and John Constable, and Akota Bronzes dated to the 5th century A.D.
