Description

Kerala Museum at Edappally is one of Kochi's oldest museums with works by modern masters such as Jamini Roy, Ramkinkar Baij, MF Husain, Ram Kumar, KG Subramanyan and Bhupen Khakhar. The museum's extraordinarily rich art collection is the only one of its kind in Kerala. The Art Walk at the Gallery of Contemporary and Modern Art, Kerala Museum, takes participants through ‘Collecting The Artist’ (curated by Supriya Menon), an exhibition that tells the story behind private collector R. Madhavan Nayar's dream to build an art resource for the public.

The only art collection of its kind in South India, the walk will be led by artist Aditi Nayar,  Madhavan Nayar’s grand-niece. She will tell us about the man himself while she guides us through the key ideas that influenced India's art movements and collectives. She will also examine 20th-century masters and their art practices from the point of view of a practicing artist.

The walk will be followed by an interactive live performance by a satirist on history and the life of the museum.
