Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.

Established in the year 1976, the District Museum in Pillalamarri has a collection of stone sculptures relocated from various areas like Poodur, Kalwakol, Gollathagudi and Vaddeman that range from 6th century AD to 16th Century AD. Along with this sculptural gallery, the museum has another building called the Jurala Pavilion where pre-historic objects like tools, coins and pottery, which were retrieved from the Jurala area, are displayed. With over a hundred stone sculptures, it also has artefacts acquired from the State Museum, Hyderabad. The museum is also located in proximity to a local Banyan tree which has been around for more than 700 years, making it a piece of history that lives and breathes.
