Briefly describe the history of the museum, its collection and donors.

The Government Industrial and Commercial Museum displays artefacts from the British industrial colonisation in India. From railway goods to industrial goods such as machinery, tools, and processing equipment (including some of the technological concepts of Europe) - are the main heritage collections. The collection consists of eight sections covering textiles, dolls and toys, handicrafts, commercial products, models, and statistical charts.

The museum also traces its own history, of being an industrial hub of the country from the late 1950s to the 1980s specially in the field of jute, textile, and steel. It also contains the history of industry legends like Tata, Birla, Poddar, Mittal, and the like. The entire history of the industrial revolution from the British period to the current scenario is also well-presented in this museum.
